They are large stone blocks, tired and worn: the time of gathering has come for them. ÉCLOSION depicts a strange, silent ceremony, a peculiar mating ritual among creatures of stone, limbless and mute, reduced to just their gaze, their matter, and their place within the group. Filmed with the distant, wordless eye of a nature documentary, the film builds from this austere premise toward something unexpectedly moving: the emotion of a birth, even if it's the birth of a block of stone. Built on particle systems that choreograph vast swarms of floating cubes, dust and debris, ÉCLOSION plays on striking contrasts, stone and wind, inertia and motion, solitude and crowd, a world where cobblestones collide violently yet float like fish in water.
